235,572 Students Begin Secondary National Examinations Across Rwanda
Kigali, Rwanda - July 23, 2024 – Today marks the commencement of the 2023/2024 Secondary National Examinations, a pivotal period for 235,572 secondary school students across Rwanda. The official launch event was held at GS Remera Protestant School in Kicukiro District, led by the Minister of Education, Gaspard Twagirayezu.
The launch event at GS Remera Protestant hosted 223 O-Level candidates and 112 A-Level candidates. In his opening remarks, Minister Twagirayezu underscored the importance of these examinations in shaping the students' futures and the nation's progress. "Today, we witness the dedication and hard work of our students as they embark on this crucial phase of their academic journey. These examinations are not just a test of knowledge but a testament to the resilience and determination of our young minds," he said.
The Minister's inspiring words were echoed nationwide as senior Ministry of Education officials and its affiliated institutions simultaneously launched the examinations at various centers, highlighting the collective support for the students during this critical time.
Minister Twagirayezu further encouraged the students, stating, "Believe in yourselves and your abilities. The knowledge you have gained throughout your studies is your strength. Approach these exams with confidence. Remember, these examinations are a once-a-year opportunity, and parents should also support their children during this period."
The Secondary National Examinations will run until August 2, 2024, involve a total of 235,572 students.
