Ministry of Education Launches 2023-2024 Practical National Examinations
Kigali, Rwanda - June 18, 2024 The Ministry of Education, through the National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA), has officially launched the 2023-2024 Practical National Examinations. The exams, scheduled to run from June 18 to June 28, 2024, were inaugurated in a dual ceremony held at St Joseph Integrated College-Nyamirambo in the Nyarugenge District and at Rwamagana Hospital in the Rwamagana District.

The Technical Secondary Schools (TSS) exams this year involve 330 schools offering 35 trades, with a total of 26,482 candidates, comprising 14,506 males and 11,976 females. The examinations are being conducted across 203 exam centers nationwide, with 4,183 assessors ensuring the smooth administration and integrity of the process.
For the Associate Nursing Program (ANP), 203 candidates (100 males and 103 females) from 7 schools are participating in the practical exams. These exams are taking place at 7 hospitals, including Gahini Hospital, Kabutare Hospital, Kibogora Hospital, Kigeme Hospital, Remera Rukoma Hospital, Ruhengeri Referral Hospital, and Rwamagana Hospital, with 54 registered healthcare professionals serving as assessors.

During the launch at St Joseph Integrated College, Dr. Bernard Bahati, Director General of NESA, highlighted the significance of these exams in reinforcing the competence-based curriculum. "These practical exams are a crucial step in ensuring the effectiveness of our Competence-Based Training Curricula. They provide clear evidence for certification and underscore our commitment to quality education," Dr. Bahati stated. He further added, "Our goal is to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to excel in their respective fields and contribute meaningfully to the nation's development."

The launch of these practical exams marks a pivotal moment in Rwanda's education sector, reflecting the government's dedication to enhancing the quality and relevance of education through rigorous and comprehensive assessments.
