NESA Staff Honor Victims of the Genocide Against the Tutsi at Nyarubuye Genocide Memorial
Staff of National Examination and School Inspection Authority visited Nyarubuye Genocide Memorial in Kirehe District as part of #Kwibuka32 activities to honor the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi and stand in solidarity with survivors.

During the commemoration, NESA staff reflected on the importance of remembrance, unity, and the responsibility of every Rwandan to ensure that genocide never happens again. The visit also served as an opportunity for staff to learn from the country’s history and reaffirm their commitment to promoting values of integrity, fairness, and humanity through education.
As part of its support to survivors, NESA renovated the house of genocide survivor Stephanie Mukanzeyimana, who lives in Kirehe District. Speaking during the event, she expressed gratitude to NESA staff for their compassion and support, noting that the assistance had restored hope and improved her living conditions.

In his remarks, Dr. Bernard Bahati emphasized that Kwibuka is a shared responsibility for all Rwandans. He noted that institutions, especially those in the education sector, have an important role in preserving the truth about the Genocide against the Tutsi and educating future generations on the values of unity and reconciliation.
He added that visiting genocide memorials is an important lesson for people working in education, reminding them to always work with integrity, transparency, and fairness to ensure that no one is treated unjustly. He further stressed the need to continue building a society founded on peace and justice, where genocide can never happen again.
The commemoration concluded with a renewed commitment from NESA staff to continue supporting survivors and contributing to national efforts aimed at promoting remembrance, unity, and responsible citizenship.
